The generation of magnetic fields requires special attention and the use of specific materials to provide effective and economical solutions compared to the alternative of Mu-metal, which is very expensive for certain protection applications. MT/BT transformer substations, which power stables, generate magnetic fields exceeding 10 microteslas. One of the main concepts is to use a layering of metal sheets to saturate and attenuate the magnetic fields in the surrounding environment.
Typically, aluminum panels are used with overlapping layers of high-permeability materials. It is this layering, along with the pairing of high magnetic permeability sheets supported by other steel or alloy materials, that allows for the attenuation of such magnetic field generation.
